About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Vice President, Claim Operations to provide the oversight, direction, and supervision of assigned Claim Operations personnel, as well as accountability for strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, interdepartmental relations and other organizational functions.  

This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Upholding and promoting the highest standards of customer satisfaction and service to insureds, agents, regional directors and other interested parties while fulfilling obligations to protect the insured’s interests and the company’s assets. 
  • Proactive Supervision of assigned staff to ensure compliance with applicable state requirements, departmental standards and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Promulgating GCM standards of communication in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental standards.  This includes verbal communications, correspondence, etc.  
  • Developing and enforcing standards for operational processes and procedures including, but not limited to, claim registration, mail processing, systems and infrastructure development, facilitation of audit and compliance activity, and all other claims operational and support functions.
  • Oversight and development of quality assurance and compliance processes.
  • Assisting the Head of Claims with strategic planning, budgeting, and process development processes.  
  • All specialized tasks and duties necessary to ensure the prompt and efficient processing of assignments within designated staffs’ span of control and area of specialization.
  • Representing GIG through continuous countrywide contact with insureds, carriers, agents.  Occasional travel may be required.
  • Oversight and ongoing development of vendor and technical educational resources.
  • Oversight, development, implementation of ongoing staff training, development, engagement, teambuilding and work process enhancement initiatives.  
  • Supporting assigned leadership staff in addressing performance, disciplinary, or other personnel related concerns with assigned staff with the assistance of senior management and the human resources department.  Includes the delivery of performance feedback and coaching as needed.          

What We’re Looking For

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.  College Degree and/or Associate in Claims or other industry designation preferred. 
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in insurance claims. Prior supervisory experience in Claim Operations is preferred.   

Technical Qualifications:  

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Efficient time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. 
  • Developed knowledge and understanding of insurance policy forms, coverages, and procedures. 
  • Must be familiar with PC operations and have or obtain a working knowledge of related departmental systems and software.  

Upon Employment the Associate is required to:

  • Develop a working knowledge and understanding of Glatfelter Claims Management processes and procedures as well as GIG culture, products and services within an appropriate period of time. 
  • Complete required training as assigned to develop knowledge, technical understanding and skills.
