About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group (GIG) is seeking an Sr. Programmer/Analyst to join our team. This position will define and/or analyze system specifications and develop, enhance or maintain applications to support new or existing information or processing systems. The position will act as a mentor for other developers and will occasionally lead project.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and 3-6 years of experience in programming and analysis.
- Three years’ experience with insurance automation applications in an insurance agency environment.
- Advanced-level working knowledge of multiple languages and demonstrated understanding of structured techniques in analysis, design, and programming.
- Thorough knowledge of personal computers with a detailed understanding of word processors, spreadsheets, databases and project management tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple application development models including WINDOWS client, web browser and/or mobile application models.
- Thorough understanding of application development methodologies.
- Knowledge of database development, including proficient understanding of SQL and relational database design concepts.
- Must possess basic keyboarding skills.
- Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of people (both internal and external) in an effective manner using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, willing and able to meet strict deadlines and willing to act as a project leader.
- Approaches problem solving in a logical, deductive thinking process.
- Preference for analyzing difficult complex problems and determining alternative solutions, identifying pros and cons of each.
- Desire to maintain and expand technical and professional knowledge.
