About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an Associate Compliance Specialist to join our Compliance Team. This new team member will be responsible for the analysis and research of compliance related items as they pertain to an insurance policy lifecycle for our varying underwriting programs.

This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with regulatory insurance research and compile information obtained from insurance statutes and regulations, insurance department and surplus lines association materials, digests, practice manuals or other sources for all aspects of our admitted and non-admitted policy lifecycles.
  • Perform research within ODEN Rules and Regulations – document manuals with all changes.
  • Prepare ODEN notices for cancellations for non-pay, rescission, and premium increase notices within required timeframes and statutory regulations for all UW programs and select companies for GBS.
  • Complete non-admitted policy filings; gather and review documentation required from Underwriting, reconcile and coordinate with underwriting to correct any discrepancies, and communicate with Surplus Lines Associations and State Departments of Insurance, if needed. 
  • Assist with DMV reporting, both internally and through carrier systems.
  • Analysis of VIN errors and motor vehicle verification requests to ensure proper reporting.
  • Participate and assist in annual carrier audits and information gathering necessary to perform audits. 
  • Prepare ODEN notices for non-renewals, conditional renewals, cancellations (non-pay and other), rescissions, reinstatements, and policy changes within required timeframes and statutory regulations. 
  • Completion of internal ODEN Mail Merges identified that are unable to be outsourced.
  • Completion of Form E, Form K, FMCSA, MCS90B, MC965, MA Stamp, and Iowa Dram Shop Filings. 
  • Maintain accurate records, files and databases sufficient to document all Legal Compliance activities. 
  • Performs other duties as required by management. 

What We’re Looking For

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience and 3 years work experience with insurance systems and/or legal research. Property-casualty company experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience working in an insurance environment with proven knowledge of MGA’s, brokerage, retail and carrier operation. 
  • Demonstrated experience working independently using research tools to gather information and analyze requirements as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems analyses techniques and current technologies.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer technologies.
  • Must have technical knowledge in using all software systems including Policy Decisions/Insurity, OnBase, Outlook, ODEN Policy Terminator, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to communicate with and influence a wide variety of personalities in-house and outside the company including customers, agents, Regional Directors and others.
  • Analytical ability is required to identify problems and work through solutions for underwriting staff.
  • Superior verbal and grammatical ability required to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities required to maintain consistent quality and quantity of work.
  • Ability to provide direction based on established guidelines and procedures to underwriting assistants and maintain a productive Compliance team.
  • Must possess a desire to maintain and expand level of technical and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations. 
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated and willing and able to meet strict deadlines.
